DeShawn was born on June 21, 1969, in Akron, Ohio. She departed this life on May 14, 2018.
She was born to Wanda Jones and Ernest Thomas, Sr. Shawnie attended Akron Public Schools and in her early years, she was a cheerleader for South Rangers, and was in various dance groups throughout Akron, Ohio.
She accepted Christ and was baptized in her later years by Pastor Brunson. Many of Shawnies greatest joys was spending time with her 4 grandchildren and most important to her, whether it be at Chucky Cheese, an amusement park, or the movies, Shawnie never let her disabilities keep her from enjoying life with them. She loved to cook and entertain family & friends in her home. Shawnee loved to dress well and look good for every occasion.
Shawnie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clarence & Carola (Granny) Hill; brothers, Willie “Fella” Hill, and Ernest “Bones” Thomas Jr. and paternal grandmother Louise Thomas.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her children, Shauntae, Patrick “PeeWee” (Torie), Markita (Jesse) all of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Nyja, Elijah (Man-Man), Jaicee (Butt-Butt) and Justice; parents, Wanda Jones, Ernest Thomas, Sr., and special father, Kenny Frye all of Akron, OH; sisters, Stacey (Big Tony) Addie, Everlee Johnson, Everlyn Vinson, of Akron, OH, Michelle “Angel” (Ray) Collins of Detroit MI, Yolanda Bennett and Twila Bennett of Akron, OH; brothers, Deon “Deechie” (Ann) Jones of Norfolk, VA, Ernest Bennett, John “Jay” Bennett, Carl “Pookie” Thomas all of Akron, OH; Her Ride or Die Crew, Eric Bennett, Jr., James “J.D.” Conley, Tony “Lil Tony” Addie, Leonard “Cwine” Jones, Damien “K.D.” Stafford, and Reggie (deceased); best friend, Sonya Davis and special caregiver Britanya.
Shawnie had a host of special nieces and nephews too numerous to name, but all had a piece of her heart.
