The Lunda family of Akron, Ohio wishes to announce the passing of their sibling Donald (Ramu) Lunda on October 5, 2018, in Chicago, IL. Ramu was born on December 17, 1945, to Edward and Ruth Lunda in Akron, OH. He graduated from Buchtel High School and continued his education at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH where he studied African History and Art. Within a period of five years of obtaining knowledge of the African heritage and culture, he adopted significant customs that lead him to define his identity as an artist. When he left college, Ramu moved to Chicago where he blossomed and developed his skills as a performing and non-performing artist. He successfully started his own African dance and music company while expanding his expertise in real estate, painting, jewelry making, and clothes design. Ramu was a well-read historian on Egyptian and African literature. Ramu was a lighthearted and spirited person who enjoyed bringing laughter to those he loved. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He was a proud father who deeply loved his children and family.
Ramu was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth Lunda and grandmother Dorothy Almeda Clemons. He is survived by his sons Tepaka, Menaka, and Kani, and a daughter Antamani Lunda all of whom reside in Chicago; two brothers Elliott (Diane), and Allan Keith Lunda; sister Karen Lunda McGregor of Akron; grandchildren, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
