Edward Earl Leonard, 79, of Akron, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2018, joining his mother Lucille (Belyeu) Cross, father James Leonard, and daughter-in-law Sarah (Mullins) Leonard.
Edward, affectionately known as Eddie, was born October 28, 1939, in Alexander City, Alabama. He was baptized into the Baptist faith at a young age. He graduated from Westinghouse High School, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1958. He served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia, from 1963 to 1965. He would later retire from Goodyear after over 30 years of service.
Edward loved watching sports including baseball, basketball, and football. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, though they broke his heart season after season after season. He was an avid reader, especially enjoying any Clive Cussler or James Patterson book. He always enjoyed his weekly Wednesday walks with his friends, we affectionately call his “walking buddies.” He loved spending time with his family and cracking jokes as only he could. He was a fun-loving, good-natured, loyal man who had a hearty laugh and a quick wit. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was always there when needed.
He leaves to honor the memory of his life, his loving wife of 52 years, Ernestine (Smith) Leonard; his children Edward (Jeanne) Leonard, II, Keith Leonard, Kevin Leonard, Andrea Leonard; his grandchildren Eric Bunn, David Leonard, Malia Leonard; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rest well…
