Second Baptist Church left a message on February 9, 2019:
To the family of Elvernis Gamble: “Blessed are they that mourn: for then shall be comforted.” (Matt. 5:4) The Second Baptist Church Family is praying that your family will seek and receive the comfort that only our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can give in times like these. Christ conquered death for all of us. We will see our loved ones again! We grieve, yet through Christ we know our grief will turn to joy. The Psalmist said in: Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” Losing a loved one is never easy. The task now is to trust in the Lord and not lean on your own understanding. When you trust, Jesus will work it out. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) May your hearts and minds be filled with the peace that only our Lord can give and His strength to keep you now and forever. Prayerfully Submitted, Second Baptist Church Family, Rev. Ernest E. Peachey Sr., Pastor
Ohio Valley Missionary Union left a message on February 9, 2019:
To the family of Sis. Elvernis Gamble: Friends are amongst the greatest gifts that God has bestowed upon us, his children. They provide wisdom and comfort, fellowship and love, honesty and patience. Jesus Christ himself referred to his disciples as his friends, heeding their advice and cherishing their support and companionship. From the moment she began traveling to the Valley, Sis. Gamble became a friend; and a member of our family. Sis. Gamble was a dedicated servant and example of beauty and grace to all those around her. Her presence here will be greatly missed! But, heaven is the goal for all Christians. And though it’s never easy to see those we love move on, we can rest in the assurance that she has fought the good fight and reached her heavenly goal. Please know that the Union is sharing in your sorrow and lifting you up in prayer, asking that God will wrap His loving arms around you; and that His peace will be your strength. Prayerfully Submitted, The Ohio Valley Missionary Union Family, Shannon Peachey, President
Pastor Barbara Dillard left a message on February 8, 2019:
The Women of Power Women's Ministry (Church of the Living God) offers our sincere condolences to the family of Mother Gamble. She was precious is our sight and she will be missed. The measure of a life well-lived is not in the number of years they spent with us or what possessions they may have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the pleasant thoughts etched in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
