Leo Scott Prewitt, 58 of Akron, Ohio was called home January 17, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born August 27, 1961, to the late Dorothy (Butler) Finney and Leo Belton in Akron, Ohio.
He completed the 10th grade at South High School. Soon thereafter, he pursued a career in construction. He worked nearly 17 years in construction with companies such as R. B. Stout Landscaping and Bob Bennett Construction. He had to retire early due to a severe back injury. Because of this, he highly valued education. He encouraged all his children, nieces and nephews to use their minds to their fullest potential.
He met Deborah in 1982 and married on their 14th anniversary, May 13, 1997, they were married for 22 years. They would’ve enjoyed 38 years together this coming May. He had 3 daughters, 1 son, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.
He enjoyed life to the fullest, never wanting the good times to come to an end. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Family meant everything to him. As children were born into the family, they quickly gained a nickname from him, and it usually suited them perfectly. Maybe in another time and place, he was a cowboy as he loved to watch westerns. He was a connoisseur of music appreciating all genres finding some true meaning in the lyrics of the songs. He also loved his cars, one might even consider him to have been a Cadillac enthusiast, owning many in his lifetime. He professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, nurturing his relationship with God in his own way.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Ada and Ed Valentine; parents Dorothy (Butler) Finney and Leo Belton; niece, Toni Prewitt, and best friends, Kevin Beasley and Anthony Hawkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Deborah; daughters, Latika, Leona and Shanay; son Leo; brother, Tony; sister, Arbella; great-aunt, Ernestine Jones; grandchildren, LaMya, LaNysha, Armoni, Sincere, Honesty, Admire, David, Brooklyn, Noell, Zion, Knowledge, and Promise; great-grandson, Jayveon; nephews, Micheal, Clyde (Jessica), Jerome, Tony, and Jeremiah, Carter, Julius, and Andre; nieces, Jacqueline, Tyesia, Tonika, Tokeia, Alexandrea, and Tasha; 6 great-nephews; 5 great-nieces and a host of family and friends.
