Mary Cornelia Wade went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017.
Mary C. Wade, daughter of Welcom and Allene Davis was born November 11, 1931 in Montezuma, TN. She was from a family of 10 with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She was baptized at an early age and added to Lucyville Church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee. She attended Chester County Training School in Henderson and graduated as the Class Valedictorian. After graduating, she married Cleveland Wade, her high school love on March 23, 1950. The Lord blessed the marriage with 4 children; Wanda, Valery, Donald and Cleveland Jr. The couple relocated to Akron in 1952. She worked at O’Neil’s Department store for many years and made a career change to become a Title XX Home Care Provider, retiring with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Federated Democratic Women of Summit County. Mary had a very loving and giving spirit. She helped many people throughout her life by providing school clothing, assisted families with financial support in times of need and a supporter of Christian education and participated in community events. One of her passions was designing clothes. She took pride in being a seamstress, tailor, millinery, purse designing, shoe decoration, upholstering, making drapes and wallpapering. Another passion was cooking. Her culinary skills excelled and lead her to become interested in catering. Mary was the menu planner for Wade Davis Catering Services. Her enjoyment in life included traveling to Buick car shows with Cleveland as he won awards for his 1954 Buick Skylark. She also enjoyed gardening, home decorating and socializing with family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Cleveland Wade; parents Welcom and Allene Davis; brothers Elton Davis, Rufus Davis, and Donald Davis; sister Mildred Bond and son Cleveland Wade Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory children, Wanda (Howard) Rookard, Valery Wade Corn DuBoise, and Donald (Julia) Wade; siblings, Elmo (Rosie) Davis, Barbara (Joe) Reeves of Jackson TN, J.P (Eva) Davis of Henderson, TN, Estelle Davis of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Kwesi (Nakia) Corn, Joshua (Diamond) DuBoise, Deearre (Ashley) DuBoise, Yolanda Wade, Cleveland Wade III, Carmelique (Maurice) Lane, Christian Wade and Jennifer Johnson; special friends, LaRond Corn, Monica and Carol Myers and family, Mrs. Barbicas and Diane Sibley.
