On May 22, 1955, in New Hebron, Mississippi, Olin C. (son) Little and Geneva Walls welcomed O.C. Little, Jr., affectionately called, “Buster”, into their loving family.
After a short medical stay at Akron General Hospital on Thursday, March 7, 2019, he peacefully passed from life to life eternal.
Buster was educated and graduated from New Hebron High School in Hinds County, Mississippi. He was a member of his high school baseball and football teams. As a youngster, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Soon thereafter, Buster moved to Ohio, where he lived with his Aunt Lillie Mae, fondly called “Aunt Late”, and Uncle Ossie Gee, whom he loved dearly. Buster was a hard worker and developed his work ethic from his work in the cotton fields as a youngster. He maintained that work ethic throughout his life. As an adult, he worked as a drywall installer and was employed by Bell Plastering and Dry Wall.
He was an avid sports fan, who was also an energetic second baseman and played on several baseball teams. He played for H&R, Hustler, and Jus-Us, in addition to playing for various traveling teams. He was always up to participate in a hearty discussion about his favorite sports teams, which were the Dallas Cowboys, the Cleveland Indians, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Buster was also a skillful gardener, who planted a garden annually filled with many of our favorite produce, including tomatoes, greens, and peppers. Many would comment that he grew some of the prettiest greens you had ever seen.
Buster was preceded in death by his parents, Olin C. Little and Geneva Walls; his siblings, Jeannette Wright, Jimbo McGruder, Pete McGruder, Jr. and Felix Wall; and grandson, DeShawn Leeland Fraser.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, DeShawn Fraser, Lakishia Beamen and son, Robert McNabb. He also leaves five grandchildren; siblings, Olan Earl Little, Peggy Ann Maye, Bessie (Boo) Little, Pallie Mae Collins, Bernice (Red) Morris, Bobby Ann Little, Joe Little, Richard Brown, Michael Brown, Larry McGruder, Billy McGruder, Niecy McGruder, Ricky McGruder, Niki McGruder, Teddie McGruder, Virgie McGruder and a host of family and friends.
Buster was a dedicated father to his children, doting grandfather to his grandchildren and very loving and kind to his family and friends.
