Sabur Abdul Jabbar was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 8,1946. He was preceded in life by his parents, Melvin B. Fields and Delories L. Brown-Jackson. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1964. He was practicing in the Muslim faith.
He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time reading and traveling throughout the city searching for social justice. He communicated with each President regarding social issues that were occurring in Akron.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Fields-Kimbrough and grandson, Tavon Abdul Fields
Sabur leaves two sons, Tarik Abdul Fields, Sharif Abdul Fields and daughter, Mariyam A. (Fields) Lewis; brothers, Melvin B. Fields, Jr. , Marc Fields, Paul Fields, Samuel (Vanessa) A. Brown, David Brown, Joseph D. Brown and Peter Brown; sisters, Michelle Fields, Suzell Mitchell, Seretha Brown, Hope White and Rebecca (Tony) Brown-Williams, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
