V’Essie Mae Alford (Vickie), 84, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2018. She was born in Moscow, Arkansas on April 24, 1934 to the late Ora B. and Nathaniel Lewis. The family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1943.
V’Essie truly loved the Lord. She has been a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church since March of 1990. She was a Mother of the Church and a Deaconess for many years. She loved cooking, baking, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a very hard worker and loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pervis Alford Sr.; siblings, Helen Allen, Evelina Honorable, Cleophis McMoore, Alfred McMoore, Ernest McMoore and Ernestine Traylor; son, Thomas James Anderson I; granddaughter, Jennifer Williams and grandson, Lester Anderson.
V’Essie leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Phyllis (Paul) Williams of Akron; son, Charles (Shara) Anderson of Killeen, TX.; sister, Arenez Walker of Akron; step-children, Pervis (Starlet) Alford Jr., William Alford, Terry Alford, Larry Alford and Vivian Watson all of Akron; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Davis, Vanessa Williams, Thomas Anderson II, Ebony Harris, SunSharae Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Quentin (Felichia) Allen, Harold Anderson and Armelia Anderson; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, My’Ahna Rene’e Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
