Will W. Ruggs, Sr. was born on July 15, 1933, to Walter and Cora Lee (Johnson) Ruggs. He was the 3rd child born into this union. He received salvation and was baptized at a young age. He was an active member of the Trustee Board at United Baptist Church in Akron Ohio. He loved his family and always worked hard to take care of them. We are celebrating the fact that he has now received his crown. He was raised in Whatley, Alabama, and moved to Kent, Ohio at the age of 18 and eventually settled in Akron, Ohio. He met and dated his current wife briefly and they separated but in seven years The Lord brought them back together. Will and Ruth Kendricks-Ruggs were married on March 29, 1968, at United Baptist Church on Bellows Street location by Pastor Billy Robinson. Will worked for various employers in his life retiring as a plumber on July 31, 1998, from the State of Ohio at Western Reserve Hospital. He received many certifications and awards during his employment. He had several skills and talents. He was known as a “handyman” and many depended on him to help them take care of broken items in their home or fix their cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee Ruggs and Cora Lee Johnson Ruggs; sister, Maple Houston (Jimmy); brother, Matthew (Bessie) Ruggs; grandparents and aunts and uncles; granddaughter, Shirley Ruth Ruggs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Ruth Ruggs; children, Cynthea (Monty) Jones, Yvonne (Ramone, Sr.) Singfield, Will W Ruggs Jr, Renee (James, Jr.) McDaniel and Raishone Ruggs; sisters, Addie L. (George-deceased) Burgan, Bernadine (Clarence-deceased) Houston, and Lilly Mae (Ellis) Brown; brother, Isreal (Harriet) Ruggs; sister-in-law, Diana Arnold; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, Cousins, and friends. Will was loved and respected by many and will truly be missed
