Annie Jewell Fields passed away Friday, January 25, 2019.
Annie was born to Henry T. and Mary Walker on January 4, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee. Affectionately known as “Anne”, she had a great love for education and instilled in her boys the importance of continuous learning. Anne was a life-long learner. She stayed abreast of the various new technology and loved researching various topics of interest.
When Anne was a little girl, her mom and dad moved their family to Detroit where she attended Commerce High School. After graduating high school, Anne attended Highland Park Junior College, then transferred to Wayne State University where she received her bachelor’s degree. In her 20’s she met and married Preston Jones, Sr. and to that union, Darryl and Preston, Jr. was born.
Anne was employed by Royal Oaks Post Office for over 20 years and retired in 1992.
Anne loved sewing and was fascinated with antique sewing equipment and garment alterations. In her leisure time, she could be found trying various sewing techniques and sharing her results with her family. After retiring, Anne decided to return to school where she would study her passion, interior design. Anne attended Eastern Michigan University where she received a Master of Arts in Interior Design.
She went on to establish her own interior design company, AJF Interiors.
Anne loved exploring and experiencing new cuisines. Her favorite pastime was going to different restaurants and trying different foods with close relatives and friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; Henry T. and Mary Walker; sons Daryl and Preston.
She leaves to celebrate her life grandsons Jarell and Lance (both of Detroit, MI)); granddaughter Adrianne (San Francisco, CA), Aunt Rena Lawrence (Akron, OH), cousin and caregiver Jeannette Johnson (Akron, OH); and host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
