I met Sledge a few years ago when we were both volunteering as basketball coaches for the after-school Empower Sports organization at Westlake High School. He was one-of-a-kind and was Superman to those young kids. I was sick when I learned of his passing, but I'm honored to have gotten the opportunity to meet and know him in recent years. Truly one of the nicest people I've ever met. Rest in peace, my friend.

Hello my name is Barbara l am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, l am so sorry to read about the death of your love one. Death is a very sad and hard time, Jesus felt the same way that's why he resurrected Lazarus back to the earth. Please read John 5:28,29 here it talks about the time when we will see our dead love ones again right here on earth. What a wonderful time this will be. If you would like to know more about this wonderful hope please visit our website at JW ORG. Thank You
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I met Sledge when we worked at Applewood and we kept in touch through the years. He had a talent for interacting with kids in a way that would put smiles on their faces. He was a kind and vivacious person. My condolences to his family. In times of death, I like to think that it is not an end, but just a change. His impact will linger on with those whose lives he touched.

My heart is broken in a million pieces. I dont watch the news much and I just happened to turn the TV on yesterday and I saw a familiar face. I missed the majority of the story and found out last night it was who I didn't want to believe it was-You!!!! I remember my sweet.friend when your mom was pregnant with you. I remember growing up next door.to your.grandmother,, playing with you and your brother whom we affectinately called Tank. I remember babysitting you all, going to.the park, playing outside, your little kid jokes that my sister and I always found so funny and made you laugh uncontrollably. I remember your funny conversations about Michael Jackson, your funny laugh and your hugs when you were little and before I went to college. You were a sweet, lovable child and you never changed as an adult. I remember seeing you as an adult and I walked up to you and told you the face looks the same but the body.must be on stilts. We had a good laugh at that. You were so tall!! Where did the time go sweet angel? And why did this have to happen to you all. I'm sick to my soul. Ive been looking through my scrapbook at you.and Terrance's pictures. You all did not deserve this!!!! Please send clues so whoever did this will be brought.to quick justice!!!! Condolences and prayers for healing, strength, courage and justice for your mom, dad, brother, grandma and the rest of your.family. Rest well sweet man and make sure you moonwalk with Michael Jackson for me . Gone Too soon, but will never be forgotten. Rest well. DiDi Love

Our sincere condolences to the Sledge family. We had the privilege of meeting Coach Sledge at Empower Sports basketball clinics. Our son loved playing against him. Our son thrived on the reactions Coach gave him whenever he made a long 3 ball. Coach Sledge acknowledged and engaged our son with a sincerity that was a gift to our son and a blessing to us as his parents. It will be impossible to replace Coach Sledge's energy and smile and please know that his interactions with our son were deeply appreciated. Coach Sledge will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful human. We will continue to lift your family in prayer.

Sledge worked at the high school my husband and I attended. He would always be the first to pick someone up when they were down and he did it without any expectation of even a thank you. He was such a beautiful soul and our hearts go out to his family. Many of us would not be the men and women we are today if it wasn’t for him and he will be missed and not forgotten.
Maxine and james left a message on June 8, 2019:
Sledge worked at the high school that my husband and I attended he would always be the first to pick you up when you were down and everyone in our classes cared deeply for him. He never judged any of us for the issues that we had and he was always just a listening ear. Our hearts go out to his family. He will be dearly missed and not forgotten. He changed our lives in unimaginable ways and some of us would not be the people we are today if it wasn’t for him.

He was an angel, always put others first and had a childlike quality to him that was warm and inviting. My heart goes out to your family and those that were blessed to have known him.
