I met Sledge a few years ago when we were both volunteering as basketball coaches for the after-school Empower Sports organization at Westlake High School. He was one-of-a-kind and was Superman to those young kids. I was sick when I learned of his passing, but I'm honored to have gotten the opportunity to meet and know him in recent years. Truly one of the nicest people I've ever met. Rest in peace, my friend.

I grew up with Carnell on Hedgeline. One of THE NICEST people you could know. I was very sad to hear of his demise. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I met Sledge when we worked at Applewood and we kept in touch through the years. He had a talent for interacting with kids in a way that would put smiles on their faces. My heart is broken in a million pieces. I dont watch the news much and I just happened to turn the TV on yesterday and I saw a familiar face. I missed the majority of the story and found out last night it was who I didn't want to believe it was-You!!!! I remember my sweet.friend when your mom was pregnant with you. I remember growing up next door.to your.grandmother,, playing with you and your brother whom we affectinately called Tank. I remember babysitting you all, going to.the park, playing outside, your little kid jokes that my sister and I always found so funny and made you laugh uncontrollably. I remember your funny conversations about Michael Jackson, your funny laugh and your hugs when you were little and before I went to college. You were a sweet, lovable child and you never changed as an adult. I remember seeing you as an adult and I walked up to you and told you the face looks the same but the body.must be on stilts. We had a good laugh at that. You were so tall!! Where did the time go sweet angel? And why did this have to happen to you all. I'm sick to my soul. Ive been looking through my scrapbook at you.and Terrance's pictures. You all did not deserve this!!!! Please send clues so whoever did this will be brought.to quick justice!!!! i knew Mr.sledge from the Applewood program for a year and a half and when i first saw him i thought he was scary but when he was talking to one of the staff members he was funny and he laughed a lot and he cared for the people around him he was always lending out a helping hand and he always made sure people were okay and I know i don`t know him that long but i will grief of his lost he was a nice respectful person and he didn`t deserve to go but their is alot of things are going on in this in this world that need to be fix hes not the only one there are many others and we need justice and put down the guns and talk things out and people shoot for no reason and its wrong your taking away someones life and its wrong and u should think before u do everyone should be able to walk on this earth free not criticized or judged and not worried about dying each and every day we all deserve peace and freedom and happiness but lots of people are going to be in pain and its gonna be hard its going to be something to slowly work through and take as much time u need to grief R.I.P Mr.sledge

I knew Mr.sledge because i used to go to applewood centers he was an amazing person i remember all the times he would help me when i was down. He was a really outgoing person and he could make anyone smile. He even taught me a whole cheer that i still remember i knew him for about 2 yrs. I dont go to applewood anymore but i will miss Mr.sledge because he was amazing and he was just a great person. He was so funny and he will never be lost out of my memory. He made me smile, he made me laugh and the person that did this killed an innocent person because he was amazing and he had alot to live for. R.I.P Mr.sledge

Our sincere condolences to the Sledge family. We had the privilege of meeting Coach Sledge at Empower Sports basketball clinics. Our son loved playing against him. Our son thrived on the reactions Coach gave him whenever he made a long 3 ball. Coach Sledge acknowledged and engaged our son with a sincerity that was a gift to our son and a blessing to us as his parents. It will be impossible to replace Coach Sledge's energy and smile and please know that his interactions with our son were deeply appreciated. Coach Sledge will be greatly missed. Sledge worked at the high school my husband and I attended. He would always be the first to pick someone up when they were down and he did it without any expectation of even a thank you. He was such a beautiful soul and our hearts go out to his family. Many of us would not be the men and women we are today if it wasn’t for him and he will be missed and not forgotten.

He never judged any of us for the issues that we had and he was always just a listening ear. Our hearts go out to his family. He will be dearly missed and not forgotten.
