Desiree is survived by her beloved children, Eric and Nichole McCroskey; siblings, Melvin and James McCroskey Jr; special nieces, Quiana and Jonai McCroskey; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lauren, and Reagan McCroskey, and a host of other family and friends.

For your hurt he gave you family to hold you until the road was clear for you to enter into his arms where there would be no more pain. I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know Desiree at the end of her journey. She was kind and humorous through her fear. I cherished my time and conversations with her. I'll remember those braids for a long time . I extend my love and appreciation to Nicole and Eric. Desi was scared to leave her children behind, but their visible strength through their mother's cancer journey gave her peace that I don't think she expected to feel. It was my honor to witness this.
