Julialine R. Belcher was born in Marion, Alabama, on November 26, 1948, to the late William D. and Matlene J. Rogers. Julialine attended Lincoln High School in Marion, where she displayed her aptitude as a scholar being an outstanding Honor Student, and a performer as a dance line member and cheerleader. It was during that time in high school when she met the man she would marry. Julialine was wed in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart, Curlee Belcher, Jr., on July 26, 1969. They recently celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary, a significant display of love, honor, and commitment. God blessed this union with one treasured daughter, Lisa.
Julialine gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Providence Baptist Church, where she was a faithful choir and usher board member. Moving to Youngstown, Ohio, with her husband, she became a faithful New Bethel Baptist Church member in the early 1970s until she departed from this life. It was here that she established a caring and lasting connection with her church family.
Gifted as a consummate caregiver and nurturer, Julialine embarked on a career in childcare. While completing her Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education in1980 at Youngstown State University, she also began working as a Preschool Teacher at Millcreek Childcare Center. Julialine’s compassion, love, and ability to encourage students was coupled with the firm belief that each child had within the ability to learn and achieve lifelong success. This heartfelt belief was, for her, a ministry that allowed her to leave an enduring impact on each young life she encountered. Her tenure as a preschool teacher was abruptly interrupted when health concerns led to an early retirement after ten years of sowing into lives through teaching. However, a gifted caregiver and nurturer can never stop being who they were made to be. Her focus was then solely placed on her faith, family, and friends she held near and dear to her heart.
Julialine leaves to cherish and honor her memory Husband, Curlee Belcher, Jr.; Daughter, Lisa G. Belcher-Nelson; Son-in-law, Keith A. Nelson; Granddaughter, Juliana A. Nelson; Sister, Minnie R. Turner. She leaves an adored host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, precious cousins, beloved extended family, and dear friends.
God decided her presence was needed with Him on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at age 71. Her wisdom, strength, resilience, and kind spirit will be admired and missed. Yet, heaven rejoices at receiving a devoted new angel
