Lillian Yvonne was born to Earl and Eva Delaney on January 26, 1937 in Akron, Ohio. She departed this life on June 15, 2019, surrounded by family, in Toledo, Ohio.
Lillian was in the 1956 graduating class at Buchtel High School. Later she attended Hammel Actual Business School and then went on to receive her Cosmetology License from Gerber Beauty School. Lillian sometimes was the caregiver while her parents worked. She ruled with a strict policy and the sisters can attest to this.
Over the course of her life, she wore many hats from beautician to school crossing guard, retail sales, home health aide and shipping for Morse Control and, last but not least, volunteer work for Bridging the Gap Food Bank. Lillian was an avid sports fan and a member of Lebron James’ grandmother’s fan club.
Sister Lillian birthed seven sons, two of which she has joined; Gregory Kendrick Rhoades and Darius Demarco Sampson. She will also be joining her parents, Eva and Earl Delaney; brother, Richard Leland Delaney; sisters, Linda Frances Peebles and Carol Ann Newsome.
Lillian leaves to cherish her memories sons, Noland Lamont Sampson (Germany), Comiesse Sampson Jr., Ricardo Miland Sampson (Toledo, OH), Derek “Duck” Sampson and Robert Garnett Sampson; 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother, Ronald Norman Delaney; sisters, Grace Delaney-Hicks (Pittsburgh, PA), Dell Elaine Williams (Akron, OH) and Rosa Margaret Foshee (William Foshee) (Akron, OH); former husbands, Comiesse Sampson Sr. and Henry Garcia; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and special friend, Elizabeth Britton.
Lillian’s service and dedication to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will always be remembered. She received the Lord into her life at Arlington Church of God and was a member of Bridging the Gap Church.
