Mae Evonne Hunter “Vonne”, 72 years old, went home to be with our Lord on May 17, 2019. Born on August 23, 1946, she was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio.
Vonne had a very sassy and outspoken personality, but was full of love and compassion. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. She was a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Young & the Restless, and most recently enjoyed scrolling through what she called “The Facebook”. With a passion for home decorating, she took pride in beautifying her home and she was highly regarded for her creative expertise. She loved channeling her expertise as a florist at Staircase Florist owned by her Aunt Gwen. That opportunity was the perfect mix of her favorite things: creativity and family. Her children and grandchildren were the laurels of her life as she worked as a homemaker for many years.
She is preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Jackson; brothers, Aaron “Billy” Hunter and Larry Hunter; daughter Susan Hunter; great-grandson King Hunter; and aunts and uncles Carl Hunter, Donald “Snook” Hunter, Ralph “Tiny” Hunter, Jacqueline Hunter, Patty (Frank) Jones, and Florence Hunter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Debra (Timothy) Wright and Evelyn (Steveo) Cole; son, Eric (Diane) Hunter; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; aunts (who are more like sisters) Lois (Creighton-deceased), Tyler, Gwen (Willie) Watts and Sandra Johnson; special caregiver, Courtney Dixon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
