Service will be held, Saturday, June 8, at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron Ohio, 44307 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Pastor Lorenzo Glenn will be officiating.

Nannie Ruth McWilliams-Broaddus, 98, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2019, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Peterman, Alabama, on June 30, 1920, she moved to Barberton, Ohio, at an early
age. She was a graduate of Barberton High School. While in Barberton, she met and later married her childhood friend, Welby B Broaddus.
They had been married for 63 years at the time of his passing.
Nannie was artistically inclined. She loved to sew and taught her daughters to do so. She was an avid gardener and especially loved flowers. She won several ‘Keep Akron Beautiful’ awards for her gardening skills. She was a member of the neighborhood block
club and served on the PTA at Lane, Thornton, Kenmore, South High and Garfield High Schools. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving on the Nursing Guild and Hospitality Committee. While raising seven children, she worked various jobs ultimately retiring from the University of Akron after many years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her parents Janie Gilbert and Cesear McMillan, her grand-parents who raised her, Charles and Belle McWilliams, her husband Welby Bergen Broaddus, her sister Ruby P. Bland, cousins Carrie McHargh and Handie Taite, who were like sisters to her and her best friend of over 90 years, Julia Payne.
She is survived by sons, Welby Broaddus (Marva), Micheal Broaddus (Sarah), Anthony
Broaddus (Vicki), David Broaddus (Rita), Bryan Broaddus.
She is survived by daughters: Karen Johnson, Kathy Davis and Linda Woodson (Benjamin), 18 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren; special nieces Emily Jean Johnson (her first daughter), and Yvonne Harris
and special nephews Leonard Anderson, Fred Bland and Greg Bland and surviving family patriarch, Charles McWilliams.
